Sphex hemipterus Fabricius, 1798 junior primary homonym of Sphex hemipterus Scopoli, 1772. Lectotype male in MNHN (coll. Bosc). Type locality: Isle de France, now Mauritius.

Sceliphron fuscum Klug, 1801. Holotype or syntypes in ZMHU. Type locality: Isle de France, now Mauritius.

Distribution Madagascar, Mauritius, New Caledonia, Reunion, Seychelles.
