Kapala Cameron, 1884; 102-103 (Replacement name for Chirocerus Brulle, 1846). Type species: Eucharis furcatus Fabricius, by monotypy.

Holcokapala Cameron, 1913: 117. Type species: Holcothorax striaticeps Cameron (= Thoracantha inexagens Walker), by original designation. Synonymy by Heraty, 2017.

Kapala ivorensis Risbec, 1954

Distribution

Cameroon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gambia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Săo Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda.

Also Neotropical and Nearctic regions.

Biology

Ectoparasitoids on ant larvae of Ponerinae and Ectatomminae (Heraty, 2002; Lachaud & P erez-Lachaud, 2012; Murray et al., 2013; Murray, 2014,Murray & Heraty, 2016).

Hosts: Formicidae: Ectatomminae: Ectatomma ruidum (Roger) (Vasque, 2012).Formicidae: Odontomachus bauri Emery; Myrmicinae: Pogonomyrmex badius Latreille (Wheeler, 1907); Ponerinae: Pachycondyla crassinoda Latreille (Myers, 1931); Ponerinae: Gnamptogenys regularis Mayr (Perez, 2006), Gnamptogenys striatula Mayr (Perez, 2006), Gnamptogenys sulcata (Fr. Smith) (Perez, 2006), Pachycondyla stigma (F.) (Perez, 2006), Odontomachus haematodus insularis pallens Wheeler (Clause, 1941).
