Distribution

Worldwide, but most diverse in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Biology

Phytophagous. Larvae feed on leaves of ferns, horsetails, gymnosperms, grasses and angiosperms, occasionally they feed on the pith of twigs or on catkins.
