Vespa tabida Fabricius, 1913. Holotype Type Locality: Africa.

Distribution

Cameroon, Congo Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Uganda.

Biology

The nest consists of a small number of double-sided combs, arranged vertically, attached at the top end to a branch, and enclosed in a thin, brittle paper covering. The nests are smaller than in P. melaina only reaching a size of 18 cm in length (Bequaert, 1918).
