Nomioides Schenck, 1867. Type species: Apis minutisima Rossi, 1790 (designated by Commission Opinion 1319, 1985).

Distribution

Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi,  Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Biology

Solitary or eusocial with most nesting in the ground, some nest in wood.  Mass-provision individual cells with pollen and nectar, which are then sealed after a single egg is laid on the provision.
