Helorus ruficornis Förster, 1856. Holotype in Vienna. Type locality: Germany, Aachen.

Helorus coruscus Haliday, 1857. Syntypes in Dublin. Type locality: England and Germany, Westphalia. Synonymy by Marshall, 1873, Townes 1977.

Helorus elgoni Risbec, 1950. Holotype in Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN). Type locality: Elgon Sawmill, Mt. Elgon, Kenya. Synonymy by Buffington & Copeland, 2017.

Helorus flavipes Kieffer, 1907. Lectotype in Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN). Type locality: France: Chanville. Synonymy by Masner, 1957.

Distribution

Afrotropical region: Burundi, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda. Also Oriental region: Korea, Pakistan (Rawalpindi), Nepal (Pulchowki); Nearctic region: Canada, USA (including Hawaii); Palaearctic region: Andorra, Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (Choi et al. 2012; Townes, 1977).

Biology

Hosts. Chrysopa ventralis, Chrysopa prasina (Chrysopidae; Neuroptera) (Pschorn-Walcher, 1955).
