Kaliosysphinga dohrnii Tischbein, 1846: 80. ♀ [the sex is not mentioned, but
this species is entirely parthenogenetic]. Type locality: Herrstein, Fürstenthum
Birkenfeld (Germany)

 

Classification

Distribution

Introduced to South Africa. Widespread in the Palaearctic Region, and has been introduced into North America and South Africa (Western Cape Province) (Koch et al., in press). A global distribution map is available in van Noort & Picker (2011).

Biology

Phytophagous. Larvae are leaf miners feeding on leaves of Alnus (Alder trees).
