Distribution

Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia,  Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Also in Palaearctic region.

Biology

Solitary or eusocial with most nesting in the ground, some nest in wood.  Mass-provision individual cells with pollen and nectar, which are then sealed after a single egg is laid on the provision.
